Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by Jana over on that artsy reader girl, which features a different bookish theme every week. This week’s theme is supposed to be cosy/atmospheric reads but I haven’t read ten of those. I don’t even have enough on my tbr to do a decent top ten list. So, instead, I’ve raided the archives and will be doing the first ever listed topic: childhood favourites.
Number 1
Tikki Tikki Tembo
Arlene Mosel with Blair Lent (Illustrator)

Number 2
A Fly Went By
Mike McClintock with Fritz Siebel (Illustrator)

Number 3
The Pokey Little Puppy
A Little Golden Book

Number 4
Three Little Kittens
A Little Golden Book

Number 5
The Little Engine That Could
A Little Golden Book

Number 6
The Famous Five
Enid Blyton

Number 7
The Secret Seven
Enid Blyton

Number 8
The Naughtiest Girl in the School
Enid Blyton

Number 9
Disaster strikes: Great natural disasters in Australia’s history
Eve Pownall

Number 10
The Baby-Sitters Club
Ann M. Martin

And now, I’ll leave you with a little teaser from one of my current reads as part of Teaser Tuesday, hosted by The Purple Booker:
By this time she had found her way into a tidy little room with a table in the window, and on it (as she had hoped) a fan and two or three pairs of tiny white kid gloves: she took up the fan and a pair of the gloves, and was just going to leave the room, when her eye fell upon a little bottle that stood near the looking-glass. There was no label this time with the words “DRINK ME,” but nevertheless she uncorked it and put it to her lips.

That’s a cute list. I want to read those Enid Blyton ones!
Have a great week!

The Babysitter’s Club is a series I read and enjoyed when I was in high school. It was so refreshing after reading so many heavy classics for school.

Oh gosh I used to love ‘The Naughtiest Girl in the School’. I didn’t have any Enid Blytons of my own (I grew up in a Roald Dahl house) but when me and my siblings went to play with the kids next door I would sometimes sneak away and read their Enid Blyton books!

I didn’t read Roald Dahl until I was an adult. For some reason I had no interest as a kid. I get the whole sneaking the neighbour kids’ books, though. I totally didn’t do that as a kid glances around shiftily.

I’ve not read him as an adult, so maybe I should revisit!

Aww The Poky Little Puppy!! I loved that book as a child, and it was the very first book I read to my son, when he was only like 3 days old!

Great list! I read quite a few of these as a kid and I love the twist on the prompt.

Oh I love this! I’ve still got all my Enid Blyton books. Tikki Tikki Tembo rings a bell. I think I must have read that when I was young.
