(for poetry)
V = Voice
Did the poem have a distinct voice or perspective? Did the speaker feel authentic, original, or compelling? Did the tone feel consistent with the subject? Was the “voice” strong enough that I could imagine the poet speaking directly to me?
E = Enjoyment
Did I like the poem? Did it move, delight, or intrigue me? Would I read it again, memorise it, or share it with someone else? Did I think about it after finishing?
R = Rhythm
How did it sound when read aloud or in my head? Was the cadence smooth, musical, or arresting? Did the structure (meter, free verse, line breaks, rhyme, alliteration) enhance or distract from the meaning? Did it ever stumble or feel clunky?
S = Style
Was the language vivid and precise? Were the metaphors, similes, or imagery striking and effective? Did the word choice feel fresh, beautiful, or thought-provoking? Or did it feel overwrought, cliché, or confusing?
E = Effect
Did the poem leave an impact on me? Did it make me feel something deeply (joy, sadness, wonder, recognition)? Did it shift my perspective, open up new ideas, or resonate on a personal or universal level? Did it linger in my memory?
