(for plays)
S = Structure
Was the play well-constructed on the page? Did the pacing, acts, and scenes flow naturally? Did the setting come through clearly through stage directions and dialogue? Did the structure build tension effectively?
T = Theme
What was the play about beneath the plot? Did the themes resonate with me? Did the play raise questions that matter socially, historically, or culturally? Did it feel relevant to its own time and/or to mine?
A = Artistry
How was the language and dialogue? Was it sharp, poetic, natural, stilted? Did dramatic techniques (monologues, asides, repetition, symbolism, silence, sound cues) add to the experience even when just reading?
G = Group
Were the characters vivid, layered, and believable? Did they grow or change? Did the dynamics between them feel authentic? Could I imagine them being embodied by actors?
E = Enjoyment
Did I enjoy reading the play? Did it absorb, move, or challenge me? Did it stay with me afterward? Could I see myself wanting to see it performed?
